Counting Down To 2015 The Australian Supercross Championship!

The revs are rising and anticipation building as the countdown to the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship moves ever closer to the drop of the start gates.

In just nine weeks Australia’s high flying dirt bike racers will front the starter for the first of six huge events across four states in a new-look Championship chase, which features a whopping $120,000 series prizemoney and all the glory that comes with being crowned national champion.

And what better place for the championship to fire into life than Australia’s home of motorsport, Mount Panorama at Bathurst, on the weekend of the annual Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 motor race.

While the V8s take a spell from thundering around the mountain, Saturday evening, October 10, will see Bathurst Showground transformed into a two-wheeled battleground featuring a purpose-built supercross track littered with jumps, whoops, berms and obstacles, all designed to deliver spectacular dirt bike action and intense bar-to-bar racing that will have fans on the edge of their seats.

From Bathurst the Australian Supercross Championship moves in rapid fire fashion through another five rounds across a range of venues from regional showgrounds to downtown stadiums and indoor arenas, which include:

Round 2: October 17, Jimboomba, Queensland

Round 3: October 31, Adelaide Showground, Wayville, South Australia

Round 4: November 21, Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Round 5: November 28, Allphones Arena, Homebush, NSW

Round 6: December 5, Knights Stadium, Sunshine, Victoria

For series co-ordinator Mark Luksich, the final countdown to the kick-off of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship is the culmination of months of work by numerous parties.

“The co-operation we have received from so many people to get to this stage has been outstanding,” enthuses Luksich. “The promoters, motorcycle industry, teams, riders, Motorcycling Australia and all our Championship partners have been working so hard behind-the-scenes.

“In particular the four promoters of the Championship events deserve credit for their efforts and I know they all want to give the crowds a great show and exciting racing.

“We have some great partners coming onboard with the Championship, including many traditional supercross sponsors, as well as some exciting new sponsors that we look forward to announcing soon.

“Feedback from so many of the riders I have been in contact with is positive and I know they are looking forward to the Championship and all the excitement that comes with racing under lights in front of large and vocal crowds,” says Luksich.

With the lure of a $120,000 total prizemoney purse and the status of a national championship crown on the line, competition across all classes in the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship will be fierce. Championship classes will include SX1, SX2, SXD and Women’s SX2, while Junior riders will also compete at rounds 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6, and supporting Arena-X competition will be held at rounds 1 and 6.

While concentrating on the Championship chase, Australia’s top supercross riders will also be confronted with serious competition from some of the world’s best racers, who are set to take aim at selected rounds.

Global supercross legends, Australia’s own Chad Reed and American James ‘Bubba’ Stewart, have already been confirmed as starters at round five of the Championship at Allphones Arena in Sydney, while details of more international riders contesting more Championship rounds will be announced in coming weeks.
